Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service completely before using ScreenTune.
1. License and Usage
ScreenTune is distributed from the official website with a free trial. Upon purchase, you are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable license key to continue using watermark-free previews and exports on supported macOS devices that you personally own or control.
ScreenTune requires macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later. The app is distributed directly outside the Mac App Store, signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple.
2. Per-Device Activation
Your license key is activated on a per-device basis. Each activation registers your Mac with Lemon Squeezy's licensing service. You can deactivate a device from within the app and re-activate on a different Mac, subject to the activation limit associated with your license.
The app may periodically validate your license online, including when you launch or use the app. It normally avoids repeating validation more often than approximately every 12 hours. If validation fails due to revocation or other issues, the license on that device may be deactivated and watermark-free previews and exports will be restricted.
3. Trial
ScreenTune offers a 7-day free trial starting from the first launch. During the trial, all features included in the standard purchase are available without restriction. Optional add-on content sold separately (see Section 5) is not part of the trial unless we state otherwise at checkout or in the app. After the trial ends, watermark-free previews and exports (MP4, GIF, PNG, JPEG) require a purchase. Recording and editing remain available, but unlicensed previews may be shown with a watermark for review only.
4. Updates and Support
Your purchase includes 1 year of updates from the date of purchase. After that period, you may continue using the version you have. Additional updates are optional and may be offered through a lower-priced renewal or other additional purchase shown at checkout. The app's built-in update checks and update notices may be limited for versions outside your included update period. Support is provided on a reasonable-effort basis via email.
5. Optional add-on content
ScreenTune may offer optional digital content for separate purchase (for example, additional wallpapers, themes, or asset packs). Add-ons are licensed separately from the base Software. Unless expressly stated at checkout, your purchase of the base Software does not include add-on content. Add-ons may be subject to their own terms and activation method shown at purchase.
6. Restrictions
You may not:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software.
- Rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute, or sublicense the Software.
- Share your license key with others or circumvent the activation system.
- Use the Software for any illegal or unauthorized purpose, including recording copyrighted content without permission.
7. Refunds
Digital goods are generally non-refundable once your license key is delivered and you can use the Software. We may make exceptions where appropriate, including duplicate charges, billing errors, license activation failures on supported systems, material defects that we confirm, or where required by applicable law. To request a refund, email support@screentune.app with the purchase email address or order ID. Refund requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We aim to respond within three business days. Payment processing is handled by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record; any refund that we approve will be processed through that system in line with applicable payment rules.
8. Disclaimer of Warranty
The Software is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the Software will be error-free or meet your specific requirements.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your use of the Software. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Software shall not exceed the amount you paid us for the Software in the twelve months preceding the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your license if you materially breach these Terms and fail to cure the breach within a reasonable time after notice. Upon termination, you must cease using the Software and remove it from your devices, except as permitted by applicable law. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including license restrictions, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will survive termination.
11. Governing Law and Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Software shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Japan, except where prohibited by mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If changes are material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you (for example, by email or in-app notice). Your continued use of the Software after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes acceptance of those changes. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Software.
